Thomas P. Sokol,
MD FACS, FASCRS
Thomas Sokol, MD is an attending surgeon in the Division of Colorectal Surgery at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. He is also an Associate Clinical Professor of Surgery at the David Geffen UCLA School of Medicine. As the Associate Director of the Colon and Rectal Surgical Residency at Cedars Sinai Medical Center he has integrated didactic and practical surgical and endoscopy teaching for Specialty Residents over the last 8 years.
Dr. Sokol began his practice in 1986, having completed Specialty Fellowship training in colorectal surgery and surgical endoscopy at the Carle Clinic/University of Illinois. This was preceded by 5 years of General surgery training at Harbor/UCLA Medical Center. He attended medical school at the University of Health Science, Chicago Medical School.
Dr. Sokol’s main clinical and research interest are directed toward the surgical treatment of anal incontinence, chronic constipation, diverticular disease of the colon and colorectal cancer. He has also worked extensively with the Gastrointestinal Motility Disorder Center at Cedars Sinai. Surgical intervention relies heavily on minimally invasive Laparoscopic Surgery.
He is a fellow of both the American College of Surgeons and the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgery. His group, Colon and Rectal Associates of Southern California continues a tradition of practice excellence that his predecessors and Dr. Max Lomas began in the mid 1940's. |
